Increase Mindfulness by Coloring
A free coloring sheet for those of us who find meditating difficult
Coloring is a simple joy that we often lose sight of as adults. Why should it be reserved only for kids? I love to color and think folks of any age can find comfort and joy in it. It’s so simple, something even toddlers can do, yet it can be very engaging.
The tactile qualities of holding a crayon or colored pencil in my hand, making marks on the paper, and feeling the waxy pigments glide across the page, is very calming to me. Making color appear, where before there was none, has held a certain magic for me since childhood.

You might be thinking, sure it’s relaxing, but is it really meditation? Try it and see! The repetition of coloring in an area of the page, then choosing a new color and doing it again, until the whole page is filled up, keeps you anchored in the present moment. It commands your attention in a gentle way, keeping your hands and brain just busy enough to prevent racing thoughts. Focus on the sensory aspects of coloring, color without judgement, color just for fun, with no rules or goals in mind. It’s a wonderful way to bring about mindfulness and reduce stress. And that my friends, is one of the biggest benefits of meditation.
So download this free coloring sheet, print it out, grab a crayon, and color your way to calmness. If you’d like to level up your coloring game, watch my video showing you 3 cool techniques - but no pressure! There’s no right or wrong way to color.
